Alter Silen auf einem Widder reitend
Westgriechisch, wohl aus Canosa, 3. Jh. v.Chr.
Terrakottagruppe aus hellbraunem Ton

Der weisse Überzug ist gut erhalten, dagegen sind von der Bemalung in rosarot und rot nur Reste vorhanden. Der bekränzte Silen hält sich mit der Linken an der Schnecke des Widders fest, mit der Rechten hält er ein grosses Trink- oder Füllhorn. Die Hornspitze fehlt vermutlich. Die Basis ist rechteckig, die Unterseite ist offen. Geleimt, kleine fehlende Scherben an der Basis ergänzt. An old Silen riding on a ram, Western-Greece, probably from Canosa, 3rd. c. B.C., terracotta group of light brown clay, 12,4 cm high // The white coating is well preserved, but only remains of the pink and red painting can be seen. The crowned Silen holds with his left hand to the snail of the ram, with his right hand he holds a big drinking or cornucopia horn. The top of the horn is probably missing. The base is rectangular, the underside is open. Glued, small missing pieces replaced at the base.
