Di quest’ultima opera, oltre alla tipica impostazione e all’amato tema, si noti come si ritrovino la medesima quinta composta da un accampamento e le figure che si allontanano voltando le spalle all’osservatore. Pieter Wouwerman era il fratello dei pittori paesaggisti Jan e Philips Wouwerman, i quali seguivano i modi bamboccianti di Pieter van Laer. Fu allievo di Roelant Roghman, nonché suo fratello maggiore Philips e suo padre Pouwels.
