Charles Goode. Pregevole orologio da appoggio inglese (bracket clock). Cassa in legno, ebanizzata, sormontata da maniglia, poggiante su quattro piedi in legno ebanizzato. Quadrante a fascia argentata, in dodici in numeri romani, con minuti di cinque in cinque in numeri arabi, su fondo dorato recante decorazioni in fusione rappresentanti simboli regali nelle quattro riserve d'angolo, sormontato da arco contenente il quadrantino con il selettore 'suona/non suona'. Il quadrante principale riporta l'indicazione del giorno del mese in finestrella a ore sei e la firma 'Goode London' racchiusa in un cartiglio, oltre al falso pendolo, visibile tra ore II ed ore X. Il movimento, di qualità, è pregevolmente decorato ad incisione, con scappamento a verga, conoide e catena e suona le ore e le mezze. Charles Goode entrò a far parte della Clockmakers Company nel 1686 e morì nel 1730. Aveva bottega nello Strande. Circa 1715. Charles Goode. A very fine early English bracket clock. Ebonized wooden case, with top handle, on four ebonized wooden feet. A silver engraved chapter ring shows hours in Roman numerals and minutes in Arabic numerals, from five to five; the four corner spandrels are decorated with cast metal crowns and sceptres. A 'strike/silent' indicator is located in the upper arch. The day of the month calendar aperture is located at six and the false pendulum is located between II and X. A nameplate reads "Goode London". The movement is finely chiseled, with verge escapement, fusee and chain, striking hours and half hours. Charles Goode entered the Clockmakers Company in 1686 and died in 1730. His workshop was located in the Strande. Circa 1715. H 44 cm
