Gouache on paper. Signed and dated in 1955. Mouly studied at Course Montparnasse until he went to fight in the Second World War. Later he moved in with Edouard Pignon renting his studio from Jacques Lipchitz, from whom he learnt about cubism. In the middle of the 1940s his career moved into the limelight. In 1945 his work was exhibited alongside that of Matisse at the Salon d'Automne in Paris. A year later he moved to La Ruche, made friends with Picasso, Chagal and Klein, and exhibited at the Salon de Mai. His work can be found in the Paris Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Modern Art of Japan, The Museum of Geneva, the Helsinki Museum of Modern Art and the Paris National Library, among other places. In 1957 he was made "Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et Lettres. 18,5 x 25 cm.
