Lame marquee: GARDE NATIONAL / ORDRE PUBLIC.Origin: France, early 19th century, restoration period.Blade: steel slightly bent single edged blade with one wide fuller both sides. Etched decoration: cock (Gallic symbol of France) and inscription “Garde Nationale” on right side of the blade and “Ordre Public” above floral motifs on left side.Closed brass hilt with a single knucklebow from yelman to the pommel, with brass ring between the cross-guard and grip, wooden grip covered with black leather fixed with brass wire.Scabbard: of brown leather, with brass mouth and a chape.
