A FRENCH M1821 INFANTRY OFFICER’S SWORD WITH IMPORTED GERMAN BLADE BY CARL EICKHORN.
Origin: France, Germany, late 19th century.
Blade: steel slightly curved single edged blade a la Montmorency, with one wide fuller and one narrow next to the edge. Maker’s stamp on ricasso – two squirrels above CE ciphers, for Carl Eickhorn.
Regulation hilt for 1821 infantry officer’s sword, knuckle bow with two branches, short back strap. Wooden grip covered with black leather, twisted brass wire.
Steel scabbard with a single band with carrying ring.
Total length in scabbard – 103 cm; without scabbard – 100 cm, length of the blade – 86,4 cm; width – 24 mm; thickness – 6,5 mm.
