GERMAN SILVER CELLAR, W. LAMEYER, HANNOVER, GERMANY, 19TH CENTURY 2ND HALF.
Origin: Germany, Hannover, about 1850-70.
Dimensions: height - 2,9 x 8,5x 5,9 cm. Weight – 82,5 g.
WILHELM LAMEYER, born August 18th 1808 in Twistringen. Master silversmith in 1837. In 1839-1844 worked as partner of G.J. FR. Knauer in Hannover. After 1844 running his own workshop. From 1872 with son, Carl Lameyer (1847-1923), under the name W. Lameyer & Sohn.
Silver salt cellar of rococo form, supported on four legs with gilt interior. Stamped (badly punched) LAMEYER and 12 in rectangle for 12 loth silver standard.
Condition report: good condition for the age. Minor marks, scratches and black spots. In need of cleaning.
