A LARGE BOULLE CLOCK WITH BRACKET, RICH BRONZE MOUNTS, 108 CM, FRANCE, 2ND HALF OF 19TH CENTURY.
Origin: France, Napoleon III period, ca. 1870.
Dimensions: total height – 108 cm, clock: height - 83 cm, width – 36,5 cm, depth – 16,5 cm, bracket – height – 25 cm.
Clock case in the rococo form made of oak wood with inlays of dark faux-tortoiseshell and cut brass, so called Boulle marquetry. Bronze mounts richly decorated with floral and rocaille motifs. Large dial with blue Roman numerals. Bronze figure on the top. Front door made of gilt bronze, lower part with rococo style, asymmetrical bronze mount depicting person with key between two dragons, opening with the key. Backdoor decorated in Boulle technique. Clock case supported on four bronze legs. Complete with the original wall bracket.
Gilt bronze dial with twelve white enamel cartouches, blue Roman numerals. Original, steel hands.
Movement of high technical quality, French, Parisian region. With two train barrels, striking half and full hours on a gong. Illegible stamp on the back plate. Clock comes with the original pendulum, winding and door keys.
Condition report: restored in 2016, perfect condition. No missing inlays. Very clean. Minimal signs af age and wear. Movement revised by a clockmaster, in perfect condition. Functionality and accuracy guaranted. Original gold layer on bronze mounts with minimal tears.
