Gian Galeazzo Ciano, Graf von Cortellazzo und Buccari (1903 - 1944) war Diplomat, Politiker und nach der 1930 geschlossenen Ehe mit Edda Mussolini, der Schwiegersohn Benito Mussolinis. Von 1936 bis 1943 war er der Außenminister Italiens. Den Adelstitel als "Graf von Cortellazzo und Buccari" erbte er von seinem Vater, dem Konteradmiral Costanzo Ciano, der von König Viktor Emanuel für seine militärischen Verdienste (Handstreich in der Bucht von Bakar) geadelt worden war und als früher Kampfgefährten Benito Mussolinis galt. Die Silberne Tapferkeitsmedaille "Al Valore Militare" wurde Graf Ciano insgesamt dreimal verliehen, bis er am 11. Januar 1944 nach einem Schauprozess in Verona hingerichtet wurde, weil er für die Absetzung Mussolinis gestimmt hatte.
