A Javanese Keris, with rare possibly 13th century.
Asal (origin): From the Brantas-Delta.
The Keris with short hand forged Wilah (blade), consists of Pamor steel forged in different layers of iron (pattern type: ‘Sanak’). Dapur in ‘Buda Putut’ (sitting Monk) and Picits (= ‘thumbprints’ shape). Small silver-gilded Mendak (cuff) with ‘Untu Walang’ (small grasshopper teeth) between the blade and the hilt. Keris hilt (Urikan) in fine ‘Tumenggungan’ shape with Kuda Panoleh and crown details, and carved from a Sperm whale tooth. The Madura Warangka (sheath) of ‘Ladrang’ type (‘boat’ shaped) and made from Blewah Polos wood patiently carved by hand. Gandar (body) with brass Pendok (cover), the Blewah Polos with Tombak.
