An East Javanese Keris Solo, with possibly 13th century blade.
An East Javanese Keris, with possibly 13th century blade.
Umur (age): From the period of the Kingdom of Singhasari.
The Keris with hand forged ‘11 Luk’ waved Wilah (blade), consists of Pamor steel forged in different layers of iron (pattern type: ‘Adeg Rambut’) and magical signs. Dapur in ‘Putut Kembar’ (= ‘double sitting Monk shape). Nickel Mendak (cuff) of ‘Kendit’ type, between hilt and blade. Ukiran (Keris hilt) in ‘Nunggak semi Yogya’ shape with Selut ‘Trap Trappan’, and carved from carved Pelet Mbelang Sapi wood. Warangka (sheath) of ‘Gayaman Gandhon’ type (‘kidney’ shaped), also made from Pelet Mbelang Sapi wood patiently carved by hand. Gandar (body) with nickel (cover), the gilded slorok with ‘Lung Lungan’ pattern.
Length of the blade, including ‘Pesi’ (tang of the blade): 40.7 cm. (1x)
Note 1: The Kingdom of Singhasari was an Indianized Javanese Hindu–Buddhist kingdom located in east Java between 1222 and 1292. The kingdom succeeded the Kingdom of Kediri as the dominant kingdom in eastern Java. The kingdom's name is cognate to Singosari district of Malang Regency, located several kilometers north of Malang city.
