Umur (age): Kartasura, the capital of the Sultanate of Mataram.
The Keris with a straight hand forged Wilah (blade), consists of Pamor steel forged in different layers of iron (pattern type: ‘Bendo Segodo’). Dapur in ‘Brojol’ shape. Small gilded Mendak (cuff) of ‘Meniran’ type, between hilt and blade. Ukiran (Keris hilt) in ‘Kagok Solo’ shape, and carved from Pelet Nyamel wood. Warangka (sheath) of ‘Gayaman’ type (‘kidney’ shaped) and made from Trembalo wood patiently carved by hand. Gandar (body) (body) with silver plated Pendok (cover), silver plated Bunton with batik pattern.
Length of the blade, including ‘Pesi’ (tang of the blade): 38.5 cm. (1x)
Note 1: Between 1680 and 1755, Kartasura was the capital of the Sultanate of Mataram, the last major independent Javanese kingdom on Java before the island was colonized by the Dutch. It is commonly referred to as the Kartasura era or period of the Mataram sultanate. It preceded the transfer to Surakarta by Pakubuwana II.
