An East Javanese Keris, with 19th century blade.
An East Javanese Keris, with 19th century blade.
The Keris with a straight hand forged Wilah (blade), consists of Pamor steel forged in different layers of iron (pattern type: ‘Kulit Semangka’). Dapur in ‘Semar’ shape. Copper gilded Mendak (cuff) of ‘Kendit’ type, between hilt and blade. Keris hilt (Urikan) made from fine Sperm whale tooth, in fine carved ‘Kojuk Mrenges’ shape. Warangka (sheath) of ‘Gayaman’ type (‘kidney’ shaped) and made from old Pelet Wayang wood patiently carved by hand. Gandar (body) (body) with brass Pendok (cover), the Blewah Polos with Tombak.
Length of the blade, including ‘Pesi’ (tang of the blade): 32.9 cm. (1x)
