Umur (age): Kartasura, the capital of the Sultanate of Mataram.
The Keris with a straight hand forged Wilah (blade), consists of Pamor steel forged in different layers of iron (pattern type: ‘Mrambut Wengkon’). Dapur in fine ‘Kebo Teki’ shape. Copper gilded Mendak (cuff) of ‘Kendit’ type, between hilt and blade. Ukiran (Keris hilt) in ‘Deder Banaran’ shape, and carved from Tayuman wood. Fine Warangka (sheath) of ‘Gayaman Banaran’ type (‘kidney’ shaped) and made from Pelet Nyamel Ceplok wood patiently carved by hand. Gandar (body) (body) with gilded Pendok (cover), Bunton decorated with gilded ‘Semen Saruda’ pattern.
Length of the blade, including ‘Pesi’ (tang of the blade): 40 cm. (1x)
Note 1: Between 1680 and 1755, Kartasura was the capital of the Sultanate of Mataram. This Sultanate was the last major independent Javanese kingdom on Java before the island was colonized by the Dutch. It is commonly referred to as the Kartasura era or period of the Mataram sultanate. It preceded the transfer to Surakarta by Pakubuwana II.
