Pontets fixes, jugulaires montées d'origine. Grande jugulaire incomplète. Double insigne des Engineers sur les côtés. Un des insigne est recouvert d'une couche épaisse de graisse séche. Le second à été dégagé par le vendeur. Barre de sous-officier également en partie recouverte de cette couche de graisse. Impact entrant sur la face avant et semi sortant à l'arrière du casque. Liner en matériaux composite haute pression de fabrication Firestone. Intérieur incomplet. Jugulaire en cuir d'origine. Double insigne d'Engineers, reste de numéro matricule S 3045, correspondant au sergent Archie K Snow du 105th Combat Engineer Battalion, matricule 16143045. Liner complètement fendu et recollé par le vendeur. Barre de sous officier présente. Impact entrant similaire à celui du casque lourd. Impact sortant au dos du casque correspondant parfaitement à l'impact situé sur le casque lourd. A noter une certaine patine et usure de la pièce, ainsi que des traces de matière organique. Pièce trouvée par, Maurice Bazin, conservateur de l'ex musée Militaire de la percée d'Avranches dans la deuxième moitié des années 80. Illustrée pages 72 et 73 du livre 75 objets du Débarquement de Normandie. Attestation originale de provenance signée de Bertrand Paris jointe avec un exemplaire de l'ouvrage. USM1 helmet shell, ruffle front fastening, unreadable lot number. Fixed rim buckles, chinstrap, all original. Large chinstrap incomplete. Double Engineers insignia on the sides. One of the insignia is covered with a thick layer of dry fat. The other was cleaned off by the seller. The NCO Bar is also partly covered with this layer of fat. The inbound bullet traveled straight through the front and partly deflected out the back. Firestone Liner made of high-pressure composite material. Incomplete interior. Leather chinstrap original. Double Insignia of the Engineers, traces of the number S 3045, corresponding to Sergeant Archie K Snow of the 105th Combat Engineer Battalion, registration 16143045. Liner completely split and glued back by the seller. NCO bar present. The inbound impact is similar to that on the helmet. The outgoing passage of the bullet at the back of the liner matches perfectly the impact located on the helmet. Note some wear and tear and discoloration on this item, as well as the traces of organic matter. The item found by Maurice Bazin, curator of the former military Museum of the Avranches Breakout in the late 80s. An illustration can be found on pages 72 and 73 in the book 75 objects of the Landings in Normandy.
