Renfort montés d'origine au niveau des coudes et des poches. Numéro matricule imprimé dans le col R-1637. Ce laundry number correspond au matricule 35221637 du Private John W Rabencraft de la compagnie H 3ème Bataillon du 507ème PIR de la 82ème Airborne. A noter une forte patine, et usure de la pièce Toutes les boutons pressions sont présents, deux sont détériorés au bas d'une manche. Plusieurs accrocs et tâches de matière organique. Restée dans l'état des combats, jamais nettoyée. Jus terrain. Pièce trouvée à l'époque le long de la route du Plessis-Lastelle à Lithaire dans la Manche par des habitants et récupérée par Bertrand Paris chez ces mêmes personnes. John W Rabencraft a très vraisemblablement été engagé dans la bataille toute proche du Mont-Castre qui a eu lieu à la mi juillet 1944 contre les parachutistes allemands. Illustrée pages 16 et 17 du livre 75 objets du Débarquement de Normandie. Attestation originale de provenance signée de Bertrand Paris jointe avec un exemplaire de l'ouvrage. In poplin, zip present but not working, the zipper tag itself missing; made by Crown. Belt missing. Original reinforcing patches at the elbows and pockets. Service number printed on the R-1637 collar. This laundry number corresponds to the number 35221637 of Private John W Rabencraft of Company H 3rd Battalion of the 507th PIR of the 82nd Airborne. Note significant discoloration, and wear and tear on the item. All the snap buttons are present, two deteriorated at the bottom of a sleeve. Several rips, and marks made up of organic matter. It remains in its battlefield condition, never cleaned. Positively reeks of the battleground. The item was originally found along the road from Plessis-Lastelle to Lithaire in the Département de la Manche by local inhabitants, shortly after the battle, and recovered by Bertrand Paris from their home. John W Rabencraft was most likely engaged in the nearby battle of Mont Castre which took place in mid-July 1944 against German paratroopers. An illustration can be found on pages 16 and 17 in the book 75 objects of the Landings in Normandy.
