Our Lady with the Child Jesus and Saint John the Baptist, Mediterranean coral sculpture, carved and gilt wooden frame, Italian, 18th C.. Notes: it was part of the "Fons Vitae" exhibition, held at the Pavilion of the Holy See at Expo 98, and is represented in the respective catalogue. Lisbon: Vatican Secretariat of State, 1998, p. 135, nº 102, where the following description can be found: "O conjunto, magnificamente esculpido em coral, é constituído por três figuras unidas por gestos de carinho: Nossa Senhora, sentada, vestindo uma túnica, manto sobre os ombros, num movimento esvoaçante, segura com as mãos o Menino que, irrequieto, tenta pôr-se de pé sobre os Seus joelhos; S. João, no lado esquerdo de Nossa Senhora, como que brincando, agarra, com a mão esquerda, o pé do Menino Jesus, não O deixando trepar, e com a mão direita segura o manto da Senhora. As figuras estão apoiadas em rodopiantes nuvens, símbolo celeste. Uma moldura de madeira dourada, com decoração barroca, protege a delicada escultura.”, Dim. - (escultura) 7 cm; (moldura) 14,5 x 10,5 cm
