A French late 19th century Empire revival gilt bronze mounted plum pudding mahogany (acajou mouchete) and mahogany cylinder bureau 1880-1900 With lotus leaf panel mounting, the marble top above three short frieze drawers each with opposing winged putti and opposing winged maiden mounts terminating in foliate lower bodies or tails, over a roll-top cylinder mounted with a central Flora mask within a floral wreath flanked by opposing winged lions each with a lower body terminating in acanthus and scrolled foliage, enclosing three short drawers, three dummy drawers and three compartments, with a gilt tooled leather inset slide below, flanked by olive leaf pendant clasped angles, above one long and two short frieze drawers, over two short drawers flanking the arched kneehole, on angled anthemia and mille raie cast winged Pharaoh-bust headed square tapering monopodiae each terminating in twinned human feet sabots, with a gilt tooled leather inset slide to each side, 128cm wide x 69cm deep x 123cm high, (50in wide x 27in deep x 48in high) This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: TP TP For auctions held in Scotland: Lots will be moved to an offsite storage location (Constantine, Constantine House, North Caldeen Road, Coatbridge ML5 4EF, Scotland, UK) and will only be available for collection from this location at the date stated in the catalogue. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
