1980 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II Chassis no. SRH40129 - Benefited from significant servicing in 2023 - Swiss registration document 'To most people, a Rolls-Royce is the ultimate status symbol: you can aspire to nothing higher. Until you drive or even ride in one, it is difficult to appreciate how much lies behind the name. There are quieter cars, there are quicker cars but none cossets its occupants in quite the same manner, none insulates them from the outside world quite so effectively, to the point where rush-hour traffic jams, inclement weather and the other irritations of day-to-day living no longer seem to matter. On top of all this is the immeasurable pleasure offered by sheer unadulterated luxury of the sort that stems only from the use of the very best materials by the very best craftsmen. That is what the Silver Shadow is about.' - Motor. Introduced in 1965, the Silver Shadow represented a complete break with tradition, being the first of the Crewe factory's models to employ unitary construction of the body/chassis. All-round independent suspension and power-operated four-wheel disc brakes appeared for the first time on a Rolls-Royce, and production cars boasted a roof-line 4' lower than that of the preceding Silver Cloud II. The latter's well-tried, 6.2-litre V8 continued in the Shadow until the need to maintain power while meeting US emissions targets saw it enlarged to 6,750cc in 1970. Notable developments prior to that had included the adoption of GM400 automatic transmission and air conditioning as standard equipment. This right-hand drive 1980 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II 4-door saloon was delivered new in Egerton Bolton, United Kingdom, in August 1980 via Grassicks Garage Limited, finished in Silver Sand with beige upholstery. The accompanying history file includes photocopies of its original build documentation, detailing the car's specifications, assembly, checks, and inspection records, along with the original invoice dated 26th March 1980 and its Warranty Acknowledgment document. Acquired by the current owner at auction in 2022, the car has since undergone an interior restoration, including refinishing the woodwork and upholstery, along with significant maintenance in 2023, supported by invoices. Offered with a spare key, the original Swiss carte grise (registration document), a Geneva state expertise report dated 20th February 2024 (at 83,762 km), and a veteran expertise report dated 10th April 2024.
