1976 BMW 750cc R75/6 Frame no. 4032114 Engine no. 4032114 Please kindly note that this motorbike will be available for viewing by prior appointment in Dortmund: please contact eva.lengler@bonhams.com for booking. Replacements for the '/5' range, the BMW '/6' series arrived in October 1973. The newcomers were more sporting in style than the outgoing '/5' models, boasting new side-panels and silencers and totally restyled controls and instruments. Like their predecessors, the three '/6' flat twins shared an identical stroke; the 500cc model though, had been dropped in favour of the new 600cc R60/6, while at the top of the range was a new 900cc superbike: the R90S. Apart from the updated styling, the presence of a disc front brake readily distinguished the '/6' bikes, which also benefited from the new five-speed gearbox. Currently displaying a total of 24,147 kilometres on the odometer, this R75/6 comes with a German Fahrzeugbrief (registration document) and a hand-written log of distances travelled and works carried out during the early 1980s. It should be noted that we have been unable to check whether or not the engine turns over. Footnotes: Please kindly note that VAT at the prevailing german rate (currently 19%) will be added to the buyer's premium which will be invoiced on a VAT exclusive basis. If you are planning to export, please make the department aware. Saleroom notices: This lot requires an ignition key but is not offered with one. Lot to be sold without reserve.
