1993 BMW 798cc R80R Frame no. 0260693 R80R Engine no. 41/92/0619 80 2V E Please kindly note that this motorbike will be available for viewing by prior appointment in Dortmund: please contact eva.lengler@bonhams.com for booking. BMW's first 'R80' (nominally 800cc) model was the R80/7 introduced in 1977 as replacement for the 750cc R75/7. Like its predecessor, the R80/7 was powered by BMW's traditional air-cooled flat-twin engine coupled to low-maintenance shaft final drive transmission. Following the introduction of the R80G/S enduro bike in 1980, the R80 family was extended further by the R80ST and R80RT, the latter being a long-distance tourer equipped with the capacious fairing first seen on the R100RT. Introduced in 1991 and built until 1994, the R80R (R=Roadster) was a 'sporty naked' based on the R100R and aimed at various export markets in Europe such as Switzerland. A bestseller, it came in two versions: 50bhp and 27bhp, the latter intended for novice riders. The 'full power' model had a top speed of 104mph. Currently displaying a total of 15,423 kilometres on the odometer, this R80R comes with its original instruction manual and service booklet; German registration papers; and various other documents. The engine turns over. Offered with key Footnotes: Please kindly note that VAT at the prevailing german rate (currently 19%) will be added to the buyer's premium which will be invoiced on a VAT exclusive basis. If you are planning to export, please make the department aware. Lot to be sold without reserve.
