The Macallan-1940-81 year old-The Reach Bottled 2022. Distilled and bottled by Macallan-Distillers Ltd. Craigellachie. One of 288 bottles. In wooden presentation case from a fallen elm tree, accompanied with original book, and a bronze sculpture of three hands by Saskia Robinson. Within flight case and outer carton. Engraved labelling. 700ml. Single Malt, 41.6% 1 hand-blown glass decanter Footnotes: This exceptional 81-year-old whisky was distilled in 1940, and crafted from a single sherry-seasoned oak cask. The whisky is housed in a mouth-blown glass decanter, elevated by three bronze hands sculpture created by Scottish sculptor Saskia Robinson to honour three individual spirits that have participated in this release: whisky-maker Kirsteen Campbell, former Macallan chairman Allan Shiach and the third hand represents the distillery workers who worked during the troubled era of the distillation. Housed in a bespoke cabinet made from a fallen elm tree that was planted in 1940 on The Macallan Estate. Whisky Maker's Notes Colour: Deep auburn Nose: Dark chocolate, sweet cinnamon, aromatic peat, plums, leather, pink grapefruit, redcurrant jelly and a rich resinous note. Palate: Treacle toffee, bramble jam, liquorice, crystalised ginger, nutmeg, charred pineapple, pecans, woodsmoke.
