Delamain L'Édition Rare du Bicentenaire Produced and bottled in 2024 by Delamain, Jarnac, for its bicentenary (1824-2024). One of one. Accompanied by a pipette decorated by Maison Goossens. Filled to 9.5 liters. Cognac Grande Champagne, 43 abv 1 demijohn decorated by Maison Goossens and 1 70cl bottle in original wooden case (No. 000 of 200). Footnotes: L'Edition Rare du Bicentenaire is blended with five extremely rare Grande-Champagne eaux-de-vie, each selected by one of the last five Delamain family members entrusted with managing the House over the past century. This historically significant blend, a liquid ode to earlier generations and their gifted savoir-faire, is a special collaboration by Delamain's two most recent Cellar Masters, Dominique Touteau and Charles Braastad, with the remarkable project also marking the hand-over of the cellar keys to Mr. Braastad (a ninth generation member of the Delamain family) after Mr. Touteau's 42 years at Delamain and the pair's creative partnership of almost 30 years. Preserved in dame-jeannes (or demijohns) in Delamain's oldest Jarnac cellar, these five eaux-de-vie are amongst the Delamain family's most revered treasures, a liquid manifestation of both the history of the House and a unique accumulation of savoir-faire; inter-generational gifts that over 200 years have left the House uniquely positioned to craft the rarest and most exceptional cognacs. Maison Goossens Maison Goossens, a Parisian 'Maison D'Art', founded by Robert Goossens in 1950, is renowned for its unique heritage and creativity in the field of silversmithing, from jewelry to small and large decorative pieces. On the occasion of its bicentenary, the House of Delamain called on the special expertise of the Goossens team to conceptualize and create a gilded overlay for an exceptional dame-jeanne that embodied the House's unique history and creative passions. The Bicentenary dame-jeanne Goossens' inspiration is largely sourced from the Delamain family's dual, and interlaced, passions for cognac creation and the exploration of the natural world (particularly for this project, the passions of ornithologist Jacques Delamain) and also Goossens' opportunity to visit Delamain's Grande Champagne vineyards; that special terroir ultimately the source of the family's dual, nature-driven, passions. Maison Goossens next sketched out several designs that looked to celebrate these special vineyards and their surrounding biodiversity. Over months, sketches began to take life in Goossens' Paris atelier as the delicate project evolved across seven manufacturing stages and incorporated 245 individually shaped pieces. Amongst design elements was the idea of stabilizing the dame-jeanne in a woven brass basket, inspired by traditional techniques. Vine warblers were also integrated into the creation, adding life to the work. Using the lost-wax casting technique, the pieces were painstakingly molded and then chiseled. Once gold-plated and perfected, they were assembled to form a naturalistic masterpiece whose elegance is derivative of both the human craftsmanship and the natural beauty that inspired it. The result, a one-of-a-kind, cognac masterpiece that testifies not only to the spirit of artisanal excellence shared by the two Houses, but also to the House of Delamain's most treasured legacy of 200 years: A dualism that blends passions for cognac and the gifts of the natural world, each emanating from their treasured terroir. Tasting Notes A captivating and long-lasting experience. Aromas: Fruits take the center stage with notes of raisin, prune, and black cherry, followed by the richness of roasted almonds and other nuts. Flavors: Hints of a warm mocha coffee, spices and earthy forest scents, enchanted by alluring aromas of a cigar box and the aged leather of a leather bag passed down as a cherished heirloom. Style: Profound presence, depth and fruitiness crowned by an extraordinary elegance, characteristic of the house's style, preserved through five generations. Experience In addition to the iconic dame-jeanne, the buyer will have the opportunity to attend a two-day experience in Jarnac with three additional guests to a date mutually agreed between the buyer and Delamain before the end of 2026. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: † † The prevailing rate of TVA at the time of going to press is 20% but this is subject to government change and the rate payable will be the rate in force on the date of the Sale.
