UTAGAWA KUNISADA (TOYOKUNI III, 1786-1865), KATSUKAWA SHUNKO II (SHUNSEN, FL. CIRCA 1804-1830), YOSHU CHIKANOBU (1838-1912), KAWABABE KYOSAI (1831-1889), AND OTHERS Edo period (1615-1868) and Meiji era (1868-1912), early 19th to early 20th century Approximately 40 bijin-ga prints of various sizes and formats by various artists, from the Edo period to the Meiji era, the prints of the Edo period comprising: 12 oban prints (the majority incomplete sheets from triptychs) and four chuban prints by Kunisada; and four prints of various sizes by others including one oban yoko-e by Shunko II (Shunsen); the Meiji-era prints including: five oban tate-e by Chikanobu and 17 further prints by others such as Toshimine, Keishu, Shodo and Kawanabe Kyosai; all variously published and variously signed. The smallest: 17.5cm x 12cm (6 7/8in x 4¾in); the largest: 38cm x 25.5cm (14 15/16in x 10 1/16in). (A lot). Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
