An enamelled brass Jaipur School of Art ewer India, late 19th Century the rounded body with flattened sides on a flaring foot, each side with a central boss set with glass in the form of a rosette, the tall cylindrical neck with central ring and spout to upper half, surmounted by a foliate openwork domed hinged lid with perching peacock, the curving handle with makara heads and terminating in a tulip, profusely engraved and decorated in red, black and ochre enamel with foliate sprays and vine leaves, the base inscribed 'School of Art/ Jeypore' 34 cm. high Footnotes: An enamelled brass tray with similar decoration attributed to the Jaipur School of Art is in the Horniman Museum, London (museum no. nn14344). The form of the present lot is also comparable to a pair of brass coffee pots in the same collection (museum nos. nn14347 & nn14349). Two further brass coffee pots of similar form are illustrated in T. H. Hendley & W. Griggs, Handbook to the Jeypore Museum, Calcutta, 1895, p. 41, nos. 2419 & 1033. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
