Spine slightly sprung. Signed and dated June 15, 2018, tabbed and annotated throughout. TWO IMPORTANT BOOKS FOR ANNE RICE. Fans of Rice's work will remember that Dickens' novel Great Expectations plays a part in The Witching Hour: it is Michael Curry's favorite novel, one he rereads regularly, and he has even named his construction company 'Great Expectations' in the novel's honor. David Copperfield is Charles Dickens' favorite of his own works, and the novel delighted Anne Rice nearly as much. On the preliminary leaf of Copperfield, Rice writes, 'Again with my beloved David, and my beloved Dickens. I have just read Claire Tomalink 'The Invisible Woman' and her later bio of Dickens. I'm writing my new novel in my head.' In her final interview with the New York Times, published posthumously in December of 2021, Rice states: 'When I do consume fiction, which is rare, it's mostly works of grand ambition from generations past.
