A Doccia group of Cupid and Psyche, circa 1750 After the model by Giovanni Battista Foggini, the reclining Cupid stretching out his right arm, his leg just stretching over the edge of the bed, leaning on a pillow, Psyche would have been to the right, now missing, left in the white, Footnotes: Provenance: Anon. sale in these Rooms, 14 November 2007, lot 71; Mavis Bimson Collection For a discussion of this group see Baroque Luxury Porcelain, the Manufactories of Du Paquier in Vienna and of Carlo Ginori (2005), p.432f, nos.285 and 286, where it is noted that apart from the 20th century biscuit casts, there are no known surviving examples of this group in porcelain. The wax model for this group is listed in the inventory of models at Doccia and was made by Vincenzio Foggini, the son of Giovanni Battista, who was paid for an Amore e Psiche group and other items on 5 November 1748. The group is discussed by Klaus Lankheit, Die Modellsammlung der Porzellanmanufaktur Doccia (1982), p.121, 22:17, ill.124, based on the biscuit casts taken after the original moulds. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
