Dolly Robinson (Irish, 1901-1977) Beached boat signed and dated 'DOLLY Robinson 1936' (lower left) oil on canvasboard 43.2 x 53.4 cm. (17 x 21 in.) Footnotes: Provenance Norah McGuinness, thence by family descent Private Collection, U.K. Please note that this lot is offered together with a small black and white photograph of Norah McGuinness, on the right, with two friends (possibly Norah's sister Eva and the artist Dolly) and the boat depicted in the painting. Dolly Robinson was known to have worked continuously with The Abbey Theatre on set and costume design from 1927 to 1935 and with Norah McGuinness on the design for Plays for Dancers. In 1936, the year the present work was painted, she showed one work in the Royal Hibernian Academy and later had a solo show in 1938.
