A COPPER-RED-GLAZED CELADON-GROUND 'DRAGON AMONG CLOUDS' MALLET VASE 18th century The domed body rising to a cylindrical neck, applied with a crouching archaistic chilong encircling the shoulder in high relief, covered overall with a celadon glaze subtly infused with copper-red imitating the texture of stone. 13.3cm (5 1/4in) high. Footnotes: Please note this Lot is to be sold at No Reserve. 本拍品不設底價 十八世紀 仿石釉堆貼螭龍搖鈴尊 Provenance: Ben Janssens Oriental Art, London 來源： 倫敦古董商 Ben Janssens Oriental Art During the Qianlong period, the production of 'life-like porcelain' 像生瓷 (xiangsheng ci) flourished. 'Life-like porcelain' refers to a type of Chinese porcelain that is crafted to imitate the appearance of natural objects, such as fruit, vegetables, animals, or other items found in nature. The present lot is 'stone-like glaze' 仿石釉 (fangshi you) initially created during the Qianlong period. See for example a brush pot with similar glaze illustrated by Alexandre Hougron, La céramique chinoise ancienne, 2015, p.225. Compare with a copper-red and and celadon-glazed 'dragon' bottle vase with similar decoration but different shape, Qianlong seal mark and of the period, which was sold at Christie's New York, 22 March 2013, lot 1499.
