Qingbai porcelain incense burners, inspired by the shapes of archaic bronzes, were popular during the Song dynasty (960–1279). These burners typically feature a Ding form, characterized by a rounded body and straight neck. However, Qingbai incense burners with a faceted neck, as seen in the present lot, are very rare. See two related Qingbai incense burners, Yuan dynasty, illustrated in The Complete Works of Chinese Ceramics 中國陶瓷全集, vol.11, Yuan dynasty II, Shanghai, 2000, nos.20 & 21, p.46.
