A TURQUOISE-INLAID GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF VAISHRAVANA RIDING A LION Tibet, 16th century The gilt bronze figure with pronounced facial features of flaming brows and eagle nose, the hair pulled up in a high chignon, seated on a lion supported by a lotus pedestal, holding a freely moving mongoose to the left hand and a victory parasol to his right hand, wearing a heavy crown, jewellery, and a sash tied at the waist over armour inlaid with turquoise. 17cm (6 5/8in) high.
