Handcrafted by Maki-e artisan Masaru Hayashi, this pen pays tribute to the legend of the beckoning cat, believed to bring good fortune and prosperity. According to Japanese folklore, a cat once saved a Samurai leader from lightning by beckoning him with its raised paw, leading to the cat's status as an auspicious symbol. The pen's cap features a cat holding oval-shaped gold coins with its right paw raised, crafted using the advanced Taka Maki-e technique. Surrounding the cat are motifs of gold coins, a mallet of luck, and a Senryo-bako, symbolizing financial prosperity.
