S C H 'Sammy' Davis (1887-1981) 'June 19 1927', formerly the property of Dr Dudley Benjafield, signed, acrylic on canvas depicting Bentley No3 (old No7) driven by Dr Dudley Benjafield at Le Mans 1927 after the infamous White House crash, 50 x 45cm, framed. Footnotes: Driving the Bentley to victory at Le Mans 1927, Dr. Dudley Benjafield and his partner 'Sammy' Davis covered 1,472.527 miles at an average speed of 61.354 mph (98.740 km/h). Motor Sport reported: 'The victory, in spite of its accident of the crippled 3-litre Bentley driven by J.D. Benjafield and S.C.H. Davis, will always remain an epic...it is great thing to have won a race with a car which was damaged in the early part of the event.'
