Friedrich Hagedorn (German, 1814-1889) Rio de Janeiro taken from Boa-Vista da Tijuca; An interior view of Brazil with men and horses on a dirt track, a set of two both signed 'Hagedorn' (lower right) gouache each approximately 52 x 69.5cm (20 1/2 x 27 3/8in). both unframed (2) Footnotes: Hagedorn spent many years travelling throughout Brazil and is widely known for producing several views and panoramas of Brazil in gouache, tempera, watercolour and even a small number of oils. He completed these works between the end of the 1850s to the early 1880s. At this time, few artists were creating works of this kind and Hagedorn took full advantage of this. A number of Hagedorn's works have been replicated into engravings and lithographs, and several of his works are held at museums in Brazil, the United States and Europe. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: * * VAT on imported items at a preferential rate of 5% on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
