CHURCHILL (WINSTON) Two typed letters signed ('Winston S. Churchill'), to J.D. Abbott Esq. ('Dear Mr Abbott'), the first thanking him for his assistance in the General Election campaign ('...We must further improve our organisation and prepare to achieve even greater victory...'); the second thanking him for his 'strenuous work' on behalf of the fete despite having initially stepped down ('...I highly value your services which were indispensable to the complete success we achieved... I am so glad that you were persuaded to make the further sacrifice involved in remaining at your post...'), two pages, dust-staining and smudges, folded, discolouration from mounts, small tear along horizontal hold of first item, remains of mounts on verso, 8vo (202 x 128mm.) and 4to (242 x 190mm.), Hyde Park Gate, S.W.7, 4 April 1950 and 4 August 1951; with a typed letter signed ('Clementine S. Churchill'), inviting him and his wife to a party for the Woodford representatives at the Blackpool Conference, one page, dust-staining, discolouration from mounts on reverse, 8vo (192 x 122mm.), 10 Downing Street, 5 October 1954 (3) Footnotes: 'WE MUST FURTHER IMPROVE OUR ORGANISATION AND PREPARE TO ACHIEVE EVEN GREATER VICTORY': CHURCHILL'S LETTERS OF THANKS TO A LOYAL CAMPAIGNER. As these letters attest, John Denis Abbott, the constituency chairman for Loughton & Woodford, was a stalwart campaigner and fundraiser for Churchill and the Conservative Party, receiving an MBE for his services. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
