DOYLE (RICHARD) - ORIGINAL ARTWORK Three ink and watercolour illustrations depicting scenes from Victor Hugo's legend of Bold Pecopin, including an archery tournament; a young man and woman with horse, dogs and a man with falcons; a lady kneeling with a falcon beside a white horse, each mounted, framed and glazed, sizes to view 75 x 165mm., 71 x 159mm., and (arched) approx. 97 x 207mm., [undated, 1840s] Footnotes: Three fine original watercolours by Doyle (1824-1883), illustrating scenes from Victor Hugo's mediaeval romance Pecopin and Baldour. Originally designed in the 1840s for a manuscript which was never completed, the artist later removing the text and mounted the images in an album. Provenance: Sotheby's, 17-19 June 1987, lots 616 and 609; Sotheby's, 12 July 2005, lots 366, 367 and 368. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
