POLYCHROME FIGURE OF JIMMY CARTER Gil Russell (b. 1948), Charlton, Massachusetts, 1998. Carved wooden sculpture depicting standing U.S. President Carter (b. 1924) with name and term dates on base, 7cm wide, 7cm deep, 20cm high (3in wide, 3 1/4in deep, 8 7/8in high). Footnotes: Provenance Candle in the Wind Studios, Charlton, Massachusetts. Literature Robert and Anne Levine, American History in Wood: The Levine Folk Art Collection, (s.n.: Robert and Anne Levine, 2017), 106. OVERALL CONDITION: Split in proper left heel along dowel joint. Plinth reads 'JAMES CARTER / 1977-1981' and is inscribed 'The Presidents / by / G. Russell / 1998 / CANDLE IN THE WIND / STUDIO / CHARLTON, MASS' on the bottom.
