FOLLOWER OF JEAN-BAPTISTE MONNOYER (FRENCH, 1636-1699) STILL LIFE WITH PEONIES IN A GLASS VASE Unsigned, attributed on a presentation plaque. Oil on canvas, framed. 25 13/16' x 20 1/16' sight size, 28 3/4' x 23 1/4' frame size. Footnotes: OVERALL CONDITION: Fair. The canvas has a glue lining. Under UV examination, there is retouch throughout. There are broad swaths of retouch all along the left edge, visible as subtle discoloration in the brown background. There is a V-shaped triangle of retouch near the upper center, approx. 10 cm. deep. There are dots of retouch near the upper right corner, near the center left, and near the lower left. There are also some dots of retouch near the lower right corner and to the right of the pink peony at far right. There is a small loss near the lower center. There is stable craquelure with separating throughout with a vertical area of stabilized tenting near the upper right, approximately 7.0 cm long.
