A PAIR OF ENGLISH PAKTONG MOUNTED FOUR-BARREL FLINTLOCK VOLLEY PISTOLS, by Onion & Simes, Birmingham, England, 1769-74. The four .40 caliber barrels on a box lock frame with engraved foliate scroll decoration, engraved 'BIRMINGHAM' on the right side and 'ONION & SIMES' on the other, engraved behind the cocks 'GEO ALEXR STEVENS' arcing over an urn, and with Birmingham proof marks on the underside; walnut stock with silver panoply of arms thumbpieces and lion butt caps, the caps with Birmingham touch marks and silversmith's mark 'CF' for Charles Freeth whose mark has been observed on the silver mounts of horse pistols. Barrel lg. 3 3/4, overall lg. 11 1/2 in. Condition: Minor blemishes in the barrel and locks, stocks have minor dings and dents, silver tarnished dark, actions function properly.
