A DEVELOPMENTAL MODEL MANHATTAN .22 CALIBER REVOLVER WITH CURVED BUTT, c. 1861-62. Apparently patterned after the Second Model .22 Caliber Revolver; serial number 5689, octagonal foliate scroll engraved barrel with German silver front sight and top rib marked 'MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS MG'G. CO. NEW YORK,' cylinder with roller engraved scene, brass frame with atypical rounded butt, barrel, cylinder and frame with matching serial number. Barrel lg. 3, overall lg. 7 in. Condition: Barrel and cylinder toned to gray, brass frame toned to deep yellow, grips are very good. Footnotes: Note This likely experimental/developmental model has the typical one-line Manhattan New York address, factory engraved barrel and cylinder has the typical scene but a rounded brass frame as opposed to the usual squared off butt.
