A CASED AND ENGRAVED MANHATTAN NAVY MODEL SERIES III REVOLVER, Newark, New Jersey, 1861-64. Serial number 33949, .36 caliber, foliate scroll engraved barrel and frame; octagonal barrel marked on the top 'MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS Co. NEWARK N.J.' with German silver front sight and loading lever below; five-shot roller engraved cylinder with five scenes marked 'PATENT DEC 27. 1859'; steel frame, with silvered brass trigger guard and grip strap; walnut grip, all visible serial numbers match including the wedge; housed in a walnut case opening to a compartmented interior lined in red velvet, with a steel Manhattan Fire Arms ball/bullet mold, a brass powder flask, a nipple wrench, and an Eley cap tin. Barrel lg. 6 ½, overall lg. 11 ¾ in. Condition: Barrel retains approx. 10% bluing with the remainder toned to mottled gray, cylinder toned to mottled gray/brown and with traces of bluing, scene is strong, trigger guard and grip strap retains approx. 95% silvering, grip has light scratches, action needs attention; case lid is missing its brass plate, interior has minor wear, accessories are good.
