A RARE BRITISH PROOFED MANHATTAN NAVY MODEL SERIES IV REVOLVER, Newark, New Jersey, 1864-67. Serial number 57608, .36 caliber octagonal barrel marked on the top 'MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS CO. NEWARK N.J./PATENTED MARCH 8, 1864' with German silver front sight and loading lever below, the left side of the barrel frame with London Company of Gunmakers proof marks; five-shot roller engraved cylinder with five scenes marked 'PATENT DEC 27. 1859' and with London Company of Gunmakers proof marks; steel frame, with silvered brass trigger guard and grip strap; walnut grip, all visible serial numbers match including the wedge. Barrel lg. 6 1/2, overall lg. 11 3/4 in. Condition: Barrel bluing is approx. 85%, cylinder toned to brown scenes are strong, frame toned to gray with a hint of case coloring, trigger guard and grip frame silvering is approx. 95%, grip has dings, dents and blemishes, action needs attention.
