A 22-Bore Flintlock Turn-Off Pistol By Wynn, London, Circa 1725 With turn-off cannon barrel, breech engraved 'LONDON' and decorated with foliage at the rear, engraved tang grooved for sighting, border engraved rounded lock signed in capitals beneath the steel-spring, figured half-stock with rounded swelling butt (chipped above the tail of the lock) carved with foliage behind the barrel tang, border engraved steel trigger-guard and fore-end plate, cast and chased silver mounts comprising pierced foliate side-plate centred on a dragon, vacant foliate escutcheon, and grotesque mask butt-cap (some old wear), indistinct London proof marks and maker's mark of Evan Lloyd 13.7 cm. barrel Footnotes: David Wynn was admitted to the freedom of the London Gunmakers' Company by redemption in 1715. He started his own business in the parish of St. James, Westminster shortly before 1720, and the business closed following his death in 1729 Evan Lloyd was free of the Gunmakers' Company in 1708.
