A 15-Bore Flintlock Brass-Mounted Pistol By G. Halfhide Of London, Circa 1730 With slightly swamped three-stage barrel, plain tang, rounded lock and cock with slender moulded borders, the former signed in capitals, moulded figured full stock (fore-end partly replaced) with foliate apron around the barrel tang, cast and chased mounts comprising pierced foliate side-plate centred on a draped pedestal, vacant foliate escutcheon with a shell above, border engraved spurred pommel decorated with symmetrical foliate scrolls on both sides and with lion-mask butt-cap centred on a waved border, trigger-guard with foliate finial and engraved with a floret on the bow, turned baluster ramrod-pipes, and later horn-tipped ramrod, London proof marks and Halfhide's barrelsmith's mark 22.9 cm. barrels Footnotes: George Halfhide was apprenticed to John Sibley in 1709.
