An English Silver-Mounted Hunting Hanger, And A French Hunting Hanger The First Late 17th Century, The Second Mid-18th Century The first with curved blade double-edged towards the point and deeply struck with a crowned King's head mark on both sides at the forte (some old light pitting), cast and chased hilt (worn) comprising lobed foliate rear quillon, shell-guard with a 'Green Man' mask flanked by standing figures and each against a finely punched ground, linked by a short bar to the knuckle-guard with central figure on each side and hooked into the pommel-cap, the latter with profile bust of a Roman emperor centred on the button and flanked by cherub's heads, all against a stippled ground within an engraved cartouche, the lower edge (minor damaged) engraved 'EX Dono W*D*', and natural buckhorn grip; the second with curved single-edged blade (file marks and scattered pitting), hilt comprising scrolled steel quillon-block chiselled with trelliswork over each side, ebony grip with beaked pommel cut with vertical lines and set on both sides with three steel ovals, and border engraved basal mount, in original wood-lined leather scabbard (damaged) with locket and chape en suite with the quillon-block, the former with suspension ring (some old rust patination)(2) 41.6 cm. and 54.5 cm. blades For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
