HARRY MILLS WALCOTT (1870-1944) FRAME CONTAINING FOUR DRAWINGS Phil in the Water; Henrietta Walcott; Papa's 'Beloved Son,'; and Mrs. Muller Mother and Arlie Washing; and a Portfolio containing two charcoal drawings and ephemera relating to the artist. Framed drawings unsigned, inscribed or titled lower center or lower right, three dated '...1890,' charcoal drawings signed. Three framed drawings pen and ink, Beloved Son pencil on paper, sight sizes 7 7/8 x 4 7/8 in. (20.0 x 12.3 cm), in a single, vertical frame; items in portfolio of varying sizes. Footnotes: N.B. One charcoal drawing is inscribed 'Accepting the Monument, Rutherford, N.J.' and has been cut in half horizontally. The second drawing appears to be of pirates relaxing in a circle chatting with a young child, in a scene reminiscent of Treasure Island or another adventure story. Among the photographs are images of Walcott's paintings School's Out and The Contest. OVERALL CONDITION: Framed drawings with pale toning, Henrietta with pale staining to l.l. and small handling crease, not examined out of frame; Drawings in poor condition with tears and losses, one drawing in two pieces (see below), photographs with silver mirroring and chemical stains, frame dimensions 40 1/4 x 9 3/4 x 5/8 inches. Drawings are matted and arranged vertically within one frame in the following order, from top to bottom: Phil in the Water, Henrietta Walcott, Papa's 'Beloved Son' and Mrs. Muller Mother and Arlie Washing.
