An American silver seven-piece tea and coffee service including kettle on stand and a tray Dominick and Haff, New York, for Cartier, incuse stamped number 1103/87, stamped STERLING, also stamped Cartier Plain tapering ovoid bodies, with applied yellow metal initials on each piece 'H. J. H.', on spreading circular bases, the pot handles with ivory insulators, the kettle on a lift-off stand, the circular base centred with a removable burner, pots with hinged covers, with two covered bowls, a cream jug, the oval tray with integral handles, length of tray 62.8cm, weight 245oz. (7) Footnotes: Dominick and Haff began in New York in 1872, and earned a reputation as an innovative designer of silver wares. The firm's success led it to acquire the assets of other manufacturers, including the dies of Adams & Shaw in 1880. The company was sold to Reed & Barton in 1928.
