A large collection of silver items various maker's and dates Comprising: a silver salver, Atkin Brothers, Sheffield 1937, shaped circular on four scroll feet, centred with an engraved crest, a dove with wings raised proper, with motto VIRTUTE TUTS 'By Virtue Safe' above for the BLAIR family of Scotland, diameter 26cm; a Victorian small pot; another small pot, with inscription; a two-handled sugar bowl; a two-handled cup / bowl, with ox eye handles, with inscription; three cream jugs; two small 'Armada' dishes; a three-piece dressing set, Georg Jensen, with import marks for London 1937 / 1938, pattern number 172; two sauceboats; a pair of pierced salts, Robert Hennell, London 1781; a Victorian drum mustard pot; six small pierced condiment pieces; two dishes; and other silver items including three cigarette boxes; a quantity of plated items to include five wine coaters, weight total of weighable silver including pots with wood handles 110oz. (Qty) Footnotes: For the salver in this lot, this is the ancient crest associated with the arms of the BLAIR family of Scotland, who were to be found at Balthayrock, Dunroad and elsewhere. They were not ennobled until 1945 when a descendant of the family, the Conservative politician, Reginald BLAIR (1881-1962), was created 1st Baronet of Harrow Weald. Reginald had married in 1905 Mabel WIELAND. He was first elected as an MP in 1912 and later (1935) re-elected as MP for Hendon.
