NDIDI EKUBIA: An Elizabeth II large Britannia standard silver vase London 2009 Hand-raised, embossed and chased with a swirling textured surface, height 24cm, weight 54.8oz. Footnotes: Ndidi Ekubia MBE was born in Manchester, 1973 to Nigerian parents. Her training began at Wolverhampton Polytechnic (now the University of Wolverhampton) 1992-1995, where she undertook a 3D design course involving wood, plastics and metal. Particularly intrigued by the possibilities of metalwork, she studied for a year at the Bishopsland Educational Trust (1995-1996), a postgraduate training program for silversmiths and jewellers, which led to her completing an MA in Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork and Jewellery at the Royal College of Art (1996-1998). Her work is represented in important public collections of contemporary craft throughout Britain including The Victoria and Albert Museum, The Ashmolean Museum, Aberdeen Art Gallery, Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery and the Shipley Art Gallery, Gateshead, Crafts Council, London, and the P & O Makower Trust. Ndidi is also represented in several institutional collections including the Goldsmiths' Company, the Grocers' Company, the Weavers' Company and the Winchester Cathedral.
