A Victorian impressive parcel-gilt electrotype charger, in fitted wooden case Elkington & Co, date letter 1888, incuse pattern number A15435, also reverse applied with 'ELKINGTON' lozenge, the front also stamped with registration number 103438 Circular form, the domed centre embossed in high relief with a Renaissance interpretation of four of the goddesses of arts and science; Thalia to the left with masque, Euterpe to the right with Aulos, Clio to the rear with scroll and trumpet and Urania to the front holding the world with a pair of compass, all within a parcel-gilt border of foliate scrolls with guilloche frieze, the border embossed with six panelled depictions of gods with frolicking putti between interludes of musical and artistic instruments, diameter of charger 56cm, diameter of frame 63cm.
